Synopsis

Jean Horton (Maggie Smith) – a once-famous opera prima donna – causes uproar with her arrival at a luxury British home for retired performers. While Reginald (Tom Courtenay) takes this hardest as her spurned ex-lover, other residents such as Cissy (Pauline Collins) and Wilf (Billy Connolly) try to convince Jean to take part in their yearly concert, but she refuses to sing, unwilling to taint the memory of her once-perfect voice.
