Synopsis
King Charles II (Sam Neill) tries to distance himself from one of his mistresses Celia (Polly Walker) by asking the royal physician, Robert Merivel (Robert Downey Jr.) to marry her, while making him promise that they’ll never become intimate. After succumbing to Celia’s charms and being disowned by the King, Merivel begins to help Londoners suffering from the plague, and falls in love with Katherine (Meg Ryan).
