Based on the book by his Dutch partner Bianca Stigter, UK filmmaker Steve McQueen writes, directs and co-produces this moving, ambitious and impressive reflection on day-to-day life under Nazi rule. Gently narrated by the UK’s Melanie Hyams, archive footage mixes with present day scenes to extraordinary effect. Co-produced by UK-based Film4 and Lammas Park.
