Mrs Brown

Mrs. Brown marked the legendary Judi Dench’s first starring film role after years of reigning on the London stage. Alongside then acting newcomer Billy Connolly, the two actors confidently and effortlessly command the screen. Directed by Hampshire-born John Madden (Shakespeare in Love, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and co-produced by BBC Scotland.

Mrs. Brown tells the story of Queen Victoria (Judi Dench) and her relationship with Scottish servant, John Brown (Billy Connolly), after the death of her beloved husband, Prince Albert. As the Queen’s friendship with Brown deepens, she must navigate the disapproval of her family and advisors while managing her own grief.
