Synopsis

When conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and fellow seaside town residents start to receive wicked and profane letters, foul-mouthed Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley) is accused of the crime. Prompting a national uproar, a trial ensues led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan), but as the anonymous letters begin to be investigated, it seems Rose may not be the culprit after all.
