Directed by British filmmaker Thea Sharrock (The Beautiful Game), this enjoyably comedic whodunit features outstanding performances from Ireland’s Jessie Buckley and the UK’s Olivia Colman. With a brilliant script from British screenwriter Jonny Sweet, and skilled cinematography from the UK’s Ben Davis, the film was co-produced by Blueprint Pictures, Film4 and South of the River Pictures.

When conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and fellow seaside town residents start to receive wicked and profane letters, foul-mouthed Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley) is accused of the crime. Prompting a national uproar, a trial ensues led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan), but as the anonymous letters begin to be investigated, it seems Rose may not be the culprit after all.
