Synopsis
Newly-qualified midwife Jenny (Vanessa Redgrave) joins a community of nuns who are also nurses in London’s East End. Surprised to find herself at a convent and intimidated by her surroundings, she navigates initially tricky relationships with formidable Sister Evangelina (Pam Ferris) and the eccentric Sister Monica Joan (Judy Parfitt) until incredibly strong bonds form between the nurses.
