Adult Life Skills

British comedian and actor Brett Goldstein won a BIFA for his charmingly awkward performance as Jodie Whittaker’s love interest in this whimsical, low-budget dramedy about grief, loneliness and thumb-puppets. Sheffield-born writer, director and editor Rachel Tunnard’s feature debut is as delightfully oddball as it is life-affirming.

Synopsis

Anna (Jodie Whittaker) is a socially reclusive 30-year-old living in her mum’s shed and making puppetry videos starring her thumbs to avoid processing the death of her twin brother. But when she is befriended by a cowboy-obsessed 8-year-old with troubles of his own and courted by a kind but awkward estate agent (Brett Goldstein), she slowly acquires the skills needed to contend with adulthood.
