In May 1945, after the surrender of Nazi Germany, Heinrich Zwygart (Michael Neuenschwander) - a Swiss ambassador in Berlin - is ordered to return home. Haunted, and with an alcohol addiction, he ruminates on past decisions as he struggles to move forward.
