The Young Victoria
The theme of power struggle pervades in this neatly crafted biopic from director Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyers Club). British actor Emily Blunt offers a vibrant portrait of teenage Queen Victoria, supported by revered UK talent such as Jim Broadbent and Paul Bettany. Co-produced by Martin Scorsese and Royal Family member Sarah Ferguson.
Victoria (Emily Blunt) is regularly harangued by her overbearing mother (Miranda Richardson) until she assumes the throne at the age of 18, following the death of William IV (Jim Broadbent). Even with company from charming friend Lord Melbourne (Paul Bettany) Queen Victoria feels desperately alone until she finds passionate and enduring romance with Prince Albert (Rupert Friend).
