My Brother the Devil

Welsh-Egyptian writer-director Sally El Hosaini announced herself as a filmmaker to watch with this La Haine meets Top Boy tale of growing up on the streets of London’s Hackney. With a breakout cameo from British actress Letitia Wright and a high-calibre of craftsmanship across the cinematic board, this adrenalin-fuelled drama is worth seeking out.

14-year-old Mo (Fady Elsayed) is a lonely, aspiring rapper who longs to be part of his older brother Rashid’s (James Floyd) drug-dealing fuelled lifestyle. But when Mo is enlisted into the gang, it sets off a chain of events that threatens to tear them apart.
