Nominated for the Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival, this captivating film’s dryly-witty script was co-written with French author, screenwriter and reportage journalist Emmanuel Carrère, adapted from Guiliano Da Empoli’s book. Featuring an accomplished cast composed of Paul Dano and Alicia Vikander alongside the UK’s Jude Law, Tom Sturridge and Will Keen, the film is co-produced by London-based Tribune Pictures.

Synopsis

In 1990s post-Soviet Russia, a young artist-turned-producer Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano) becomes the unlikely advisor to rising agent Vladimir Putin (Jude Law). Baranov is instrumental in helping to shape the new Russia, often darkly blurring the boundaries between truth and lies in the process.
