The final film made by British artist and activist Derek Jarman is a poignant and poetic meditation on, and confrontation of, life, death, sexuality and spirituality, inspired by his own experience of AIDs-related illness. Featuring narration from the British actress Tilda Swinton and a sublime soundtrack, Blue is an intensely moving experience.

Against the backdrop of a plain, unchanging blue screen and a tapestry of voices, sound effects and music, Derek Jarman relays - both literally and metaphorically - his experience of AIDs and subsequent partial blindness that only allowed him to see the colour blue.
