Synopsis

Facing financial difficulty, Jane Austen’s parents (James Cromwell and Julie Walters) hope that she’ll marry the wealthy nephew of Lady Gresham (Maggie Smith). But Jane (Anne Hathaway) has other plans, becoming involved with young Irish lawyer Tom Lefroy (James McAvoy), whose charm and romantic spirit will fuel the creativity she needs to become a novelist.
