Directed and co-written by Belfast-born filmmaker Nick Hamm, this is an entertainingly absurd retelling of the William Tell myth. Skilfully scored by British composer Steven Price, the film also features a first-rate British cast that includes Ben Kingsley, Jonah Hauer-King, Ellie Bamber, Solly McLeod, Jake Dunn and Wales’ Jonathan Pryce. Co-produced by UK-based Tempo Productions.

Synopsis

In 1307, as the Roman Empire’s hold over Europe diminishes, many nations vie for power, including the Austrian Habsburg family who threaten to take over Switzerland. It’s within this context that local huntsman William Tell (Claes Bang) runs into trouble when the cruel Austrian Viceroy Gessler (Connor Swindells) forces him to shoot an apple from his son’s head, thereafter committing Tell to fight the Austrian forces with everything he has.
