Synopsis

In 1930s Edinburgh, unconventional teacher Jean Brodie (Maggie Smith) eschews objective facts in favour of encouraging her students to embrace the ambiguities inherent in love, romance and art. With her teaching philiosophy bringing her into conflict with the school’s more traditional headmistress Miss Mackey (Celia Johnson), Jean Brodie’s behaviour becomes increasingly calculating.
