The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Directed by the UK’s Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) and co-written by British screenwriter Kevin Hood, this pleasant drama features a great central performance from Brit Lily James. With support from a stellar UK cast including Jessica Brown Findlay, Penelope Wilton, Tom Courtenay, and Matthew Goode, the film was co-produced by British company Blueprint Pictures.

In 1946, London-based writer Juliet Ashton (Lily James) begins exchanging letters with Dawsey Adams (Michiel Huisman) who resides on Guernsey, an island once occupied by Germany during WWII. Feeling drawn in, she begins to visit, creating a picture of the occupation and forming relationships with the eccentric people who live there.
