The Almond and the Seahorse

Co-directed by and starring Welshman Celyn Jones, alongside Rebel Wilson in a rare dramatic role, this film adaptation of a critically-acclaimed play tenderly and cleverly explores how traumatic brain injuries can alter reality. Filmed across Liverpool and North Wales, the landscapes are as gorgeous as the drama is poignant.

Synopsis

For Gwen (Trine Dyrholm), it's always 1999. The face in the mirror is unfamiliar and her partner isn’t recognisable to her despite waking up together every day. Meanwhile Joe’s (Celyn Jones) past is coming undone and his partner, Sarah (Rebel Wilson), fears she will be forgotten. A doctor refuses to give up on them, determined not to let them unravel.
