Co-directed by Northern Irish filmmakers Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn, and adapted by British screenwriter Paul Fraser, this drama is an entertaining recreation of a real-life sporting scandal. Ireland’s Éanna Hardwicke and the UK’s Steve Coogan are exceptional as the leads, supported by British actors Aoife Hinds and Alice Lowe. Co-produced by Belfast-based Fine Point Films.

Synopsis

On the Pacific island of Saipan, Ireland’s football team prepare to compete in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. But after a heated disagreement erupts between Irish captain Roy Keane (Éanna Hardwicke) and English-born manager Mick McCarthy (Steve Coogan), Keane storms out of the training ground, forfeiting his place in the team.
