After Detective Sergeant Karen Pirie (Lauren Lyle) is promoted to Police Scotland’s Historic Cases Unit, she reopens the unsolved case of a young barmaid's murder. Revealing flaws in the original 1995 investigation, she tries to discover the truth behind what happened.
