The Party

British filmmaker Sally Potter assembles a cast of peerless (and fearless) performers in the UK’s Kristin Scott Thomas, Timothy Spall and Emily Mortimer alongside Cillian Murphy, Cherry Jones and Patricia Clarkson for a beautifully shot, razor sharp social satire set over the course of one chaotic night. It’s a party alright.

Synopsis

Newly appointed Shadow Minister for Health Janet (Kristin Scott Thomas) has invited some friends round to celebrate: viper-tongued April (Patricia Clarkson), her new boyfriend Gottfried (Bruno Ganz), and lesbian couple Martha (Cherry Jones) and Ginny (Emily Mortimer). But her disinterested husband (Timothy Spall) has an announcement of his own, and then banker Tom (Cillian Murphy) arrives looking for his wife, and the party really gets started.
