Synopsis
Following her father losing his sight, Griet (Scarlett Johansson) is sent to work as a maid for Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer (Colin Firth) and his jealous wife, Catharina (Essie Davis). After Johannes and Griet strike up an unlikely friendship, tension grows after a wealthy and lustful patron (Tom Wilkinson) commissions a painting of her which forces the two to spend long hours alone together.
