Synopsis

Set in 19th-century England, pioneering palaeontologist Mary Anning (Kate Winslet) searches for fossils with the hope of selling them to tourists. When an upper class visitor offers to pay Mary to look after his wife Charlotte Murchison (Saoirse Ronan), she begrudgingly accepts, not expecting the intense romantic bond that begins to develop between the two.
