A Banquet

Another entry into the canon of gastronomic horror (see also: The Feast, Flux Gourmet), Scottish filmmaker Ruth Paxton’s feature debut takes the pressures of being a teenage girl and turns them into a disquieting exploration of disordered eating. Queasy sound design, claustrophobic interiors, gliding camerawork and a chillingly-good Lindsay Duncan all work in service of this sensory buffet.

Widowed mother Holly (Sienna Guillory) becomes increasingly concerned for her eldest daughter Betsey (Jessica Alexander) as she refuses to eat, but loses no weight and claims that her body has been assumed by a higher power.
