Talent Talk: MY FATHER'S SHADOW
Talent Talk: MY FATHER'S SHADOW
Go behind the scenes of My Father’s Shadow, the feature debut from BAFTA-nominated and Sundance-winning director Akinola Davies Jnr, selected for Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2025.
In this in-depth Talent Talk from the UK Pavilion, Davies is joined by co-writer Wale Davies, UK producer Rachel Dargavel, Nigerian co-producer Funmbi Ogunbanwo, and BBC Film Director Eva Yates for a candid conversation about making the film — from Lagos locations and narrative structure to cross-border collaboration and creative legacy.
Moderated by Ama Ampadu (BFI), the discussion covers how the team brought this intimate and poetic story of two young brothers in Lagos to life, following the success of their acclaimed short Lizard.
