Working with the UK: How to navigate the UK's new AVEC

Friday 16 May | 9:30 - 11:00
[UK Pavilion]

The UK’s Audio-Visual Expenditure Credits (AVEC) which include the new enhanced rate for UK qualifying independent films (also known as the Independent Film Tax Credit, IFTC) is now fully on-stream. The new enhanced rate for UK qualifying films with a core expenditure up to £15m and which have a UK writer and/or UK director, or which qualify as official co-productions under one of the UK’s bi-lateral treaties or the European Convention. Please come with your questions for our experts to answer on how the qualification process for the AVEC and the new enhancement works and could support your project.

The Certification Unit at the BFI is the first point of contact for producers and production companies wishing to qualify and claim the UK’s expenditure credits through the Cultural Tests and the UK’s Co-production treaties. You can also book a meeting with Anna Mansi to discuss the AVEC and the IFTC during the festival.
